July 20 2013: TV

Few days ago, Katrina held the remote control, pointed it at the TV, and started pressing buttons.
Yep, they figure out these things pretty early. Of course, figuring out how to turn off the TV takes much much longer. I wonder why ...

She helps when dressing and undressing her.

She makes kissing sounds every evening when mommy kisses Lana good night.

She loves to eat shoes.
She likes to play with blocks.
She obviously likes watching TV.

When eating something new, she always only takes a very portion from the spoon first to try it. And then if she likes it, she opens her mouth wide.

She started sleeping on the floor mattress. The crib became too limiting for her. She still takes her nap in the nap nanny though.

She has two back teeth now, in addition to the 8 front teeth.

She likes taking a walk with mommy outside. Mommy takes her to watch the neighbor's dogs. She stares at them without fear.

Updates

- At the end of May, at the age of 8.5 months, Katrina started crawling officially. Before that, she would push herself forward, but then sit on her tatouz. She did her first crawling steps on the carpet. She stops when she reaches the edge of the carpet.Everybody was so excited. Mommy was telling her 'Oui, Bravo!!'. So Katrina would say 'Bo' when crawling, with a big smile on her face. She understood that Bravo is because she is doing something to be proud of.
After a week of crawling, she attacked the hard floor. But because it is hard on her knees, she started anew technique that mommy calls 'monkey crawling'. It includes doing one step on her knee, and one step on her foot. She looks very adorable when she does that.

- At the age of 8 months, she said 'Aja' for 'Agua'.

- She could put the titina in her mouth byherself at the age of 6 months. But she did not know that she should let go of it once it is in her mouth. So she would pull it back off. And then get upset why the titina left her mouth :) She looked so cute when she looked around after unintentionally pulling titina out of her mouth, like she is saying 'who took off my titina???". About a month later, she could put it in her mouth and let go of it. But it took her some trials to get it in right in her mouth, twisting her hand like it is a tough task. Around the age of 8 months, she mastered putting titina in her mouth. She is not very attached to it though. She always welcomes putting it in her mouth, but she spits it after a short while. She generally uses it only to sleep, and she won't keep it in her mouth after she falls asleep. It naturally falls away.

- She started drinking water mixed with prune juice at the age of 6-7 months. She liked it. She would first sip very small qty. later she started really drinking. At the age of 9.5 months, she is officially drinking water, without juice.

- She started waving bye bye at the age of 9 months.

- She also said "mama' at the age of 9 months.

- She listens well to instructions. If she is told 'no' when she does something wrong or she grabs something, she pulls away without a fight. Sometimes, she would fuss over it, but most of the time, she just does as asked.

- Mommy taught her to do ba2oussi, and she learned it pretty fast. Starting the age of 9 months, as soon as mommy puts her on Lana's bed, she grabs the blanket and hides her face with it, and giggles. She does not say 'pickaboo', but she knows that pickaboo refers to this game.

- She is very playful. She likes when daddy takes her out with him on his 'garden lookup trip'. She also likes trip in the street.

- She is very curious when it comes to new things. When mommy takes her to see the neighbor's small dogs, she stares at them.

- She developed fear early on. She cries when some of the baby songs come out. And when some baby characters show up on TV. Well, she does not like them all. She wants to develop her own taste.

- She drinks about 20 ounces of milk oer day, mixed with juice. Milk is not her favorite. Sometimes mommy has to insist to get her to drink milk. As for solids, she welcomes them very easily. New flavors are welcome. She likes to bite on the apple.
Daddy gave her avocado, and she ate it with pleasure.

- She helps when dressing and undressing her, by pulling the shirt off, and kicking the pants.

- When it is feeding time, and she is placed on the high chair, she tries to put the bib on. When she is not hungry anymore, she removes the bib, even when mommy is still feeding her. that is her way to say: I don't want to eat anymore.

- When she is hungry and it is time for her solid meal, she crawls to her high chair, and starts pulling on it. Yep, she is finding constructive ways to express herself.

- She likes to be tickled.

- She likes to swim in the pool, and play during the bath. Mommy is filling up the bath tub for her, and she plays with her bath toys.

- As of now, she still puts explores things via her mouth. Although she uses her hands as well, but the mouth is still the preferred method.
She loves playing with cables. She likes her singing books.
In her hypo balls game, she places the balls back in the hyppo sack when they jump out.

- When going out, she cries if it is a strange place, and mommy leaves her to play byherself. She prefers to stay in mommy's lap, and watch other kids play.
